SAM Summer Institute Scholarships
Each year SAM awards two need-based scholarships for summer institute study. SAM alternates the scholarship recipients each year between students and teachers. Students are awarded scholarships for summer camp and teachers are awarded teacher training scholarships.
In 2006, we awarded student scholarships to Leigh Stonehocker and Alexandra Stonehocker. These two students were chosen from a number of well qualified applicants, and were able to attend the American Suzuki Institute at Steven's Point, Wisconsin.
Here is what they had to say about their experiences:
My Suzuki Institute experience was an unforgettable one. I happily enjoyed
my classes with considerate teachers and friendly peers. My favorite class was
my master class. This group was very enjoyable and I learned most in this class.
I liked my teacher a lot too. She helped me understand the piece I was working
on at that time, and improve my playing. The other kids in my master class were
considerate and kind while it was my turn to play. I enjoyed my time at the
Suzuki Institute and thank you for making this possible for me.
Sincerely,
Leigh Stonehocker
My favorite thing about camp was the teachers and the classes. My favorite
class was my private lesson. I really think Music camp was a very good experience
and thank you for helping me attend.
